2018 - High IQ - Gift or Challenge? London

High IQ - Gift or Challenge?

Understanding and coping with an intelligent mind

by British Mensa and Kendall Tuition

Being labelled as gifted is exciting, but it’s rarely easy. It can be a struggle to fit in with a society that doesn’t understand and makes you feel ‘different’. An IQ test can reliably predict academic accomplishment, but it doesn’t suggest a person will be successful at work or in life. In some cases, the opposite may prove true.

Join Mensa

People join Mensa for many different reasons - for intellectual discussion on a diverse range of topics, for a lively social calendar, or to visit places or hear speakers often not available to the general public.

Some join just because they can!

To become a Mensan, all you need to do is demonstrate you have an IQ in the top two per cent. There is no other criteria.

Many people choose to take the test that we offer*, but if you have already taken a test which shows you are in the 98th percentile, that test may be valid for membership under the prior evidence process.

* We can only administer certain industry-standard tests, which are written. These may not be suitable for everyone. Alternative tests, especially for people with disabilities and additional needs, are usually performed by psychologists. Results from those tests are readily accepted by Mensa. We have many members with different disabilities who have joined using the prior evidence process.
