The Race is on, by Nick Kitson, won the competition

There was a race to the finish line in this year’s Mensa photography competition, with images of motorbikes in a rush filling the top two places.

Nick Kitson, from Eastleigh in Hampshire, won the competition with The Race Is On, his picture of a speeding bike on a soggy racetrack.

The theme of the competition was Urgency!, encapsulated perfectly in the top three images.

Second place went to David Walker from Kilmacolm in Renfrewshire, with Mid-Air Crisis, an image of a high flying scrambler mid-air, while We’re Outa Here, a piece of leaping deer sculpture captured by Mike Stenson from Wrexham, took third place.

The top three all win Mensa shop vouchers, and their pictures will go forward to the International Mensa Photographer of the Year competition.

Mid Air Crisis, by David Walker, was runner up.
