Crossing borders for photography competition

Could you cross national borders to be crowned Mensa’s International Photographer of the Year?

The theme for the 2017 PhotoCup competition is Borders, so there is plenty of scope for professional and amateur photographers alike to let their imagination run wild.

Photography is an area where Mensans from more than 50 countries with different languages, customs and traditions can converge with a single, visual language.

Use your creativity, skills, and technical expertise to produce your entry in this year’s PhotoCup competition.

The three best entries from the British Mensa Photographer of the Year competition will be put forward for the Mensa International title.

Entries are now open, so send us your best images which show what borders mean to to you, in whatever way you choose to interpret the theme.

Each entrant can submit up to three photographs. Those which, in the opinion of the judges, have used creativity, skill and technical expertise to best illustrate the theme will be crowned the winners, and the top three images will go forward to international finals.

The prizes this year are:

·         1st - Mensa vouchers valued at £50

·         2nd - Mensa voucher valued at £25

·         3rd - Mensa vouchers valued at £10

Each image should be jpeg format and no bigger than 1MB in size, with the title and photographer’s name and membership number included in the image label or body of the email. Please make sure you write Entry for Photographic Competition 2017 in the subject.

The closing date for entries is noon on Monday June 26, 2017.

Entries by email are preferable and should be sent to photocompetition@mensa.org.uk

Alternatively you can post to: Photographic Competition, British Mensa Limited, St. Johns House, St Johns Square, Wolverhampton, WV2 4AH. Please remember to put a sticker on the back of each hard copy picture stating, name, membership number and title of the photograph. We regret that photographs cannot be returned.
