The success of Britain’s swimmers and divers at the Olympic Games in Rio has left one high-flying Mensan “a little numb”.

Adele Stach-Kevitz has been in Brazil as a board director of British Swimming, working with the performance director and athlete coaches for the diving squad.

She said: “Our swimming total of one gold and five silver medals is the best Great Britain have achieved in the pool since 1908 and our diving tally of one gold, one silver and one bronze is the best result in the history of British diving!

A new range of Mensa hoodies and T-shirts will be hitting the streets very shortly.

The three new designs are available as both hoodies or T-shirts in a wide array of colours - if you don't see the colour you want, just contact the Mensa office to check if it is available.

The designs feature a jigsaw pattern, a wordsearch and a traditional Harvard-style collegiate emblem, with subtle Mensa branding and exclusive labelling.

The wordsearch and jigsaw designs will be available to the public, while the collegiate design is for members only.

More than 90 Mensa members and guests enjoyed talks on high IQ and human genetics at the latest arts and science day in London.

The impressive Wellcome Collection building was the venue for Mind, Body and Soul, which included talks from Mensa member Sonja Falck and broadcaster Dr Kat Arney.

A 17th Century fort which has played a major military role over more than 400 years was the destination for Irish Mensa's latest event.

Members headed to Elizabeth Fort in Cork to find out about its history, from the original fort built in 1601 to the 19th Century incarnation still in use as a Garda station.

Gifted child consultant Lyn Kendall

Bringing up a gifted child is exciting but it’s rarely easy. And the children themselves can struggle to fit in with a society that doesn’t understand them and makes them feel “different”.

Two events coming up over the next few weeks aim to help both parents and children, both led by Mensa’s gifted child consultant Lyn Kendall and hosted by Mensa’s hub school, the Westwood Academy in Coventry.
