Michael Feenan CBE: Mensa International Chief Executive

Michael’s career includes 30 years in the RAF. He commanded his squadron in the Gulf War, and was the senior RAF Officer in Berlin, overseeing the withdrawal of forces from there in 1994 and the handover of multiple facilities to the German authorities. He spent many years in Moscow, starting as an Air Attaché and subsequently as Head of Defence Staff for British Embassies in Russia and Central Asia. He subsequently worked for the large US Corporation Raytheon, where he was responsible for a $1BN business area, delivering multiple complex contracts supporting US government efforts to assist the Russians in eliminating weapons of mass destruction in the former Soviet Union and preventing the spread of technology, expertise and materials into unauthorised hands.

Michael is now responsible, as Executive Director, to the elected board of Mensa International for the overall administration of the organization and also functions as the Company Secretary for Mensa International Ltd, which is the legal incorporated entity based in the UK.

He is also a member of the Institute of Association Leadership (IAL), formerly known as the Institute of Association Management, and served as its President from 2016-2019.

Michael is fluent in Russian and also speaks French and German.
