Gifted and Talented : A special workshop for Parents

The Westwood Academy, Mitchell Avenue, Coventry, CV4 8DY

Friday 2nd October 2015

Bringing up a bright spark can be a challenging, exhausting and exciting business – but how do you know if you’re doing what’s best for your gifted child?

As part of an innovative partnership between the Westwood Academy and British Mensa, parents are invited to a day-long seminar with Mensa’s gifted child consultant Lyn Kendall.

Lyn - who has experienced gifted education from the perspective of child, parent and teacher - will talk about identifying gifted children, education and parental support, and some of the facts and fiction surrounding giftedness.

Lyn is a qualified psychologist and experienced special needs teacher with particular expertise in supporting the needs of gifted pupils. She is regularly called upon by the media to comment on gifted education issues and has been a consultant for all three series of the Channel 4 programme Child Genius.

The first event will take place at the Westwood Academy in Coventry, Mensa’s hub school for gifted education, on Friday, October 2.

The day costs £25 per person and includes lunch, refreshments and three sessions. It is open to anyone involved with the care of a child with high learning potential.
