Anne Thomson

My name is Anne Thomson and I am from Prestwick in Ayrshire, Scotland.
I have been a member since 1987.
I took the test because I completed an IQ test in a woman’s magazine and sent it off not expecting to hear anymore, but the result showed I had a higher than average IQ score. Mensa then invited me to take the supervised test and to my astonishment, I passed!
I like Mensa because I feel like I belong– all of the members I have met are nice ‘normal’ people, they just happen to be able to hold intelligent informed conversation on many subjects. In the early years of my membership I did not go to very many meetings, but since becoming editor of Bagpipe, the Scottish Mensa Newsletter, I have attended many more social gatherings and have loved every minute.
And finally the more you put into Mensa, the more you will get out of it. I have made many friends that I would never have otherwise met.
