Gifted child consultant Lyn Kendall

Bringing up a gifted child is exciting but it’s rarely easy. And the children themselves can struggle to fit in with a society that doesn’t understand them and makes them feel “different”.

Two events coming up over the next few weeks aim to help both parents and children, both led by Mensa’s gifted child consultant Lyn Kendall and hosted by Mensa’s hub school, the Westwood Academy in Coventry.

Lyn is a psychologist, SEN/gifted specialist teacher and star of Channel 4’s Child Genius programme. She has been working with gifted children for over well over 30 years and has a huge wealth of experience, skill and knowledge.

On May 13, Lyn will lead a workshop for parents to help them support their little bright sparks. The day will cover identifying gifted children and why it’s important, the facts and fiction surrounding giftedness and issues around education and support.

The event costs £25 per person, including lunch. To book, click here

Then, on May 21, Lyn and her team of professionals will host an activity day for very bright children aged seven to 10.

The theme for the day is Research and Investigation, and children will take part in three fun activity sessions called Quantitative Quest, Famous People and Word Wizardry.

The day, which costs £40 per child, is designed to challenge children while they have fun with others of a similar age and ability.

A further event for 10 to 13-year-olds will be held on June 25.
