A national casting company is looking for a very bright young boy for the lead role in a new film.

No acting experience is required for the the part, which is for a boy aged 11-13. The film is a comedy drama about a young child during the Second World War.

Des Hamilton Casting, which is leading the search, specialises in discovering new talent and has found stars for productions such as the BBC series Gunpowder the Netflix original film War Machine, starring Brad Pitt.

Interlude in Prague - Aneurin Barnard

A chance to rub shoulders with stars of the silver screen is on offer to Mensans at the world premiere of the romantic tragedy feature film, Interlude in Prague.

The film, which stars Adrian Edmondson, James Purefoy, Samantha Barks and Dervla Kirwan, was written by long-standing Mensan Brian Ashby, who is also the producer.

Fellow Mensan Helen Clare Cromarty is co-writer and executive producer.

Sebastian Carrington and Dixie Egerickx

Two talented young Mensa members have been making waves in the performing arts world.

Ten-year-olds Sebastian Carrington, from the West Midlands, and Dixie Egerickx, from London, have been making a name for themselves in the highly-competitive arenas of music and acting.

Sebastian has not only achieved distinctions in his Grade 8 singing and piano exams – an unusual achievement even for students 10 years older – but he also got to perform for royalty at Buckingham Palace.

Not many nine-year-olds have been “spotted” by Spielberg and played the pivotal role in a 2,000 year old Greek tragedy – but young Mensan Dixie Egerickx is taking it all in her stride.

She is nearing the end of a run in one of the most unexpected theatrical hits of the year, the Almeida’s production of Aeschylus’ The Oresteia, which is now enjoying a triumphant West End transfer at the Trafalgar Studios.
