IQ is simply a measurement of certain abilities - there is no pass or fail in an IQ test. Just as there are different types of intelligence, so there are different types of test to measure them.
The British Mensa supervised test uses two industry-standard assessments - the Cattell III B, which focuses on verbal reasoning skills, and Cattell Culture Fair, which is more geared towards visual and spatial skills and relies less on fluency in the English language.
Membership of Mensa is open to anyone who can demonstrate an IQ in the top two per cent of the population, measured by a recognised or approved IQ testing process. A top two per cent score in either section of the supervised test would qualify.
A score of 148 on Cattell III B and 132 on Culture Fair equates to the top two per cent.
