World’s Toughest Sudoku?

Finnish Mathematician Dr Arto Inkala, of Helsinki University, yesterday claimed to have created the world’s toughest Sudoku, after spending three months devising it. Unfortunately for Dr Inkala, within hours of it being published, it was easily solved, and the solution reproduced on various websites.

There are numerous suggested origins of Sudoku, but its current form became popular and regularly published in Japan in the mid-1980s. Over the past decade Sudoku brainteasers have become a puzzle phenomenon in the UK.
