British Mensa Welcomes Youngest Boy - Oscar Wrigley

12-Oct-09

Oscar Wrigley

In August, at 2 years 5 months Oscar Wrigley became the youngest ever boy to become a member of British Mensa. Oscar of Reading, Berkshire, was found to have an IQ score in the top two percent of the population after being assessed by Consultant Educational Psychologist, Dr Peter Congdon.

As Mensa can only test people over the age of 10 and a half, Oscar was accepted via a Prior Evidence application which was supported by a report from Dr. Congdon. The report confirmed Oscar had an IQ score within the top two percent of the population, after Dr. Congdon had conducted the Stanford-Binet IQ test.

British Mensa’s youngest ever member is Elise Tan Roberts who joined at 2 years and 4 months (845 days) earlier this year. Previously the youngest boy to join British Mensa was Ben Woods at 1035 days in the 1990s; Oscar joined Mensa when he was 895 days old.

Wondering what your IQ is? Why not take a Mensa Supervised IQ Test, or if you want to practice first try a Mensa Home Test

Please note that the Mensa Supervised IQ Test is suitable for those aged over 10 and a half. Younger children should be assessed by an educational psychologist to find out their IQ score - your local health authority or education authority can help you to find professionals in your area.
