Whether the prospect of this summers Olympic games fills you with excitement or dread, you will be offered the fascinating prelude of delving into their ancient Greek origins in the company of Nigel Spivey, author of 'The ancient Olympics-War minus the Shooting'.

Nigel was not only three times 'victor' of the Oxford and Cambridge games but first in the field of classical scholarship being Senior Lecturer in Classical Art and Archaeology at Cambridge.
Join us for what will be a fascinating and knowledge packed day including a visit to the British Museum home to a vast collection of world art and artefacts sandwiched between two lectures from Nigel Spivey, an archaeologist, art historian and classicist.
You will not be disappointed!
The programme for the day is

| 11.15 - 12.15 | Talk by Nigel Spivey titled 'Myth and Reason' |
| 12.15 | Make the short journey by foot to the British Museum to look at the depictions of wrestlers, discus throwers, and runners chasing round the vases and the Gods they honoured caught in monumental poses or 'friezed' on pediments. |
| This time period will also allow you to break out for lunch. The museum's restaurants offer a variety of good food and beverage | |
