British Mensa Annual Gathering 2013 - Monday

10:15am – 11:30am. Ouse Cruise - £6.50

5 minute walk

A second chance to enjoy a leisurely 45 minute cruise, with commentary. Drinks available on board. Sit back, relax and listen to historical facts about the River Ouse and its surrounding buildings. Enjoy York from a different perspective. As this will be a smaller group, we don’t get the group rate.

10:15am – 12:00noon. York Minster - £8.50 Children 8-16 £3.00

15 minute walk

Strictly, the Cathedral of St Peter, one of the finest Gothic buildings in northern Europe, twinned with Cologne Cathedral. See the Rose Window, the memorial book to the thousands of Yorkshire Bomber Command aircrew who failed to return from missions over Germany, and gaze in awe at the sheer size of this wonderful edifice, started in 1220 and not completed until 1472. The east window is the world's largest area of Gothic stained glass.

After the tour finishes you have the option of staying on for a tour of the Undercroft (free, a lift is under construction) and the central Tower (no disabled access to the tower – additional £6, concessions £5, PAYG).
